Beijing is the capital city of The People's Republic of China and the center of politics, culture, science and technology as well as the center of traffic international association of the whole nation. The construction of Beijing improves fast and makes great changes since more than 50 years after the foundation of The People's Republic of China. Modern buildings emerge like the spring bamboo after the rain. Beijing has successfully won the right to host the 2008 Olympic Games. The goal “Green Olympics, Humanistic Olympics, High-tech Olympics” will bring much more changes to Beijing inevitably to propel further development of Chinese Athletic Sports and the World’s Olympic Games and strength further friendly exchange between Chinese people and the people of the world.
Beijing’s scientific and technological force is powerful because there are many world-famous scientific research institution and higher universities there, such as Chinese Academy of Science, Beijing university, Tsinghua University and so on. At the same time, Beijing is developing its high-tech industry, so the brain intensive place “Zhongguancun” is called China's “Silicon Valley”.
