要用一个英语动词来表达“见习”是可以的,不过英语分得比较细致.
你表达的‘见习’其实与‘实习’比较接近,在中文里,用在许多方面都没问题.
英语里有下列几个类似动词,practice,exercise,drill,intern
Practice,exercise,drill 是较通用的词,它们的意思都是：重复操作来训练自己.不过还是有点小区别；practice 的使用范围较广,所以是最通用的.如果这种重复操作涉及体育或与体力有关,一般是用 exercise.如果训练强度很高,就用drill. 不过, drill 带有teach 的成分,所以一般会这样用： The teacher drills him in grammar.
Intern 可以用作名词或动词.不及物动词的意思是：有老师监督与指导的培训；就是说,“临时在某地受监督下接受他所学的专业培训以获取实践经验”.因此比较合适用于在校或毕业生,特别是医院方面的训练,一般称为实习生,这比较符合你的提问.
