which引导定语从句在从句中作主语,宾语或是表语.
where引导定语从句在从句中作地点状语,where=介词+which.
一般情况下,定语从句引导词都是which或者that,只有在从句里的动词时不及物动词且缺少介词的时候可以用where,
你看第一句从句里面,my mother and i used to sit in the evening,这里的介词in是in the evening用表时间,sit是不及物动词,所以要用where.
第二句里面的动词时be动词,是及物动词,所以一定要用which 或者where.
